제네시스 프로그램

학생들은 고등학교 3학년이 되기 전 여름 방학에 우리 프로그램에 들어와 8주간의 집중 훈련을 받고 고3 동안 Genesys Works National Office, Genesys Works Chicago, Genesys Works Houston, Genesys Works Twin Cities 중 한 장소에 배정되어 시간제 일을 하게 됩니다.

학생들에게 제공되는 훈련은 각 장소마다 특정 기술 분야의 협회들에게 학생들이 가치 있는 일을 제공할 수 있도록 관련 전문 지식을 습득하도록 설계되어 있습니다. 더 나아가 학생들은 회사에 들어가 기업 환경 속에서 성공할 수 있도록 의사소통이나 회사 예절교육과 같은 직업상의 기술에 관한 훈련도 받고 있습니다. 학생들은 도심의 비즈니스 중심가에 위치한 우리 시설에 들어오는 첫 날부터 자신에 대한 높은 기대와 전문성을 요구하는 문화를 경험하게 됩니다. 우리가 더욱 다양한 미래 노동력을 개발하고 성장시켜 나갈수록 우리 공동체에게는 더 많은 혜택을 주게 됩니다.

제네시스 역사

지역 차터(charter) 스쿨 이사회 일원으로서 있으면서 당시 포춘지가 선정한 100대 회사(Fortune 100)에 대한 기업 전략가였던 Rafael Alvarez는 경제적으로 어려움을 겪는 고등학생들이 변화하는 인력 시장에서 경쟁할 수 있는 기술이 부족하다는 암울한 미래 전망에 대해 충격을 받았습니다. 그러한 요구에 대응하기 위해 Alvarez씨는 2002년도에 Genesys Works (초기 이름은 Genesys ITS)라는 회사를 창립하였습니다. We are Genesys Works

Genesys Works is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that enables inner-city high school students to break through barriers and discover through meaningful work experience that they can succeed as professionals in the corporate world.

Our Program

Students enter our program during the summer prior to their senior year and, after eight intensive weeks of training, are assigned to work at one of our client locations, part time, during their senior year.

The training is designed to arm students with the knowledge they need to provide value to corporations in specific technical fields varying at each of our locations. Furthermore, students are trained on the professional skills needed (such as communications and corporate behavior) to enter and succeed in corporate environments. From the first day they walk into our facilities, which are located in the downtown business districts of the cities we serve, the students are exposed to a culture of high expectations and professionalism. Our entire community benefits as we develop a more diverse workforce for the future.

Our ultimate success, however, is not measured by the number of sites or the number of students we directly serve. Rather, we hope to serve as a catalyst for major education reform and will consider our mission accomplished when we are able to, in true partnership with schools, achieve a culture in inner-city schools in which the pursuit of a professional career becomes "the given" for all students. Our history

While serving as a board member of a local charter school, Rafael Alvarez, at the time a corporate strategist for a Fortune 100 company, was struck by the bleak prospects facing economically-challenged high school students who lacked the skills necessary to compete in the changing job market. In response to that need, Mr. Alvarez founded Genesys Works in 2002 (originally named Genesys ITS, Inc.). Learn more about our leadership.

Starting with only 10 students and one corporate partner, our organization quickly grew to serve hundreds of students who are now working in Fortune 500 companies in Houston. In 2008, we proved that the model is geographically scalable by successfully opening our first expansion site in St. Paul, MN. Together, we served over 300 students in 2009, working in over 50 major corporations. And, upon the specific request of Chicago Public Schools, Genesys Works - Chicago began its first class in the summer of 2010.
